Asterisk 1.2
Ok, installing Asterisk 1.2 on my FreeBSD box at home. Let’s see how this goes.
As expected, libpri and zaptel do not compile nor install on FreeBSD. That’s not something I can fix currently. The zaptel dummy drivers are needed for conference calling and some other things. We’ll have to wait for the ports to become […]
Picasa Rocks
Ok, I completely missed this before. But Picasa Rocks. Check it out. Awesome.
Asterisk 1.2 Beta 1 is Out
The long awaited Asterisk 1.2 Beta 1 is now available. Definately worth checking out. I’m gonna upgrade my little server this coming up weekend (or this week, if I get time). The biggest thing is the realtime extension support, so your configuration can be in the database and there is no need to restart the […]
So yeah
So yeah, the CRM app that I did for a local company(along with a fellow programmer) does not work at all in Firefox 1.5. Time to convert it to a XulRunner app, or a piece of real chrome. Grr…
Added some JSON to it to speed it up, but found out the basic XML-RPC isn’t working […]
Civilization IV
I just saw this: Sid Meier’s Civilization IV, very cool.
Check out the IGN Interview.
But wait, check this out:
“*Civilization IV* [Sid Meier’s latest, due out next year] has been designed to fully support the mod community. The game is written using flexible XML data files and the Python scripting language so modders will have no […]
I survived Rita ‘05
I survived Rita ‘05. We didn’t even lose power. Hopefully help won’t come through here, as it’s badly needed elsewhere right now.
VeggieMap.org
VeggieMap is up for those of you looking for a Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant. Check it out, even if you’re not Veg*n could be nice to find a good place to eat healthier. =)
Still waiting out Rita down here.
Waiting out the hurricane: SVG and XBL in XUL
With FF 1.5 having native SVG support, and XulRunner close behind, I thouhgt I’d search on SVG inside of XBL widgets for use in Xul(maybe even a Firefix skin done in SVG).
Using SVG with XBL in XUL.
An SVG and XBL Paint Demo.
Wish I had some more. Gotta go, wind is picking up.
For those wondering, I’m […]
In Houston
I’ll be back in a few days, I’m in Houston right now but should be back after all this is overwith. Gotta help family.
Doing some AJAX and JSON(Examples included!)
So I decided to beef up Haunted House Nation with some minor Ajax and JSON support. Most AJAX I’ve done has been XML-RPC based via JS O’ Lait going so far as to use it in some of my XUL apps. But HHN is cross-platform, meaning IE and Moz, so I looked to find some […]
Saturday Update
Over at XUL For Thought he has released an XBL for a very cool datepicker. Big Kudos. Datepickers are very time consuming, yet obvious, to program, and a reusable widget is simply a must.
Looks like there is some info on Ebay’s Plan for Skype.
Scott Berkun made some news by both switching to Firefox and making […]
Python for XUL
Brendan talks about Python for XUL. That’s excellent news that Moz is going to finally get another language, not that I hate javascript(I now have a new appreciation for it, in fact). But something else is definately needed. Plus you can mix languages, although this is probably going to quickly be considered a faux pas […]

Nice quick read on Why XUL Will Win over at Smoking toooooo much PHP. A nice quick read.
Thunderbird 1.5 Beta 1 Out
Thunderbird is my all time favorite mail client. Especially because I have 16 email accounts linked to it, each with at least 5 megs of header data(All IMAP), and it doesn’t slow down any. Plus junk mail filtering, etc..
Hat tip to Asa for this.
From their website:
Here’s what’s new in Thunderbird 1.5 Beta 1:
Automated update to […]
End of Technorati
Google has a new Google Blog Search out. It’s fast, it’s quick, and doesn’t have the spam problems that Technorati has.
Compare Technorati to Google’s BlogSearch. HUGE difference.
It’s not the same thing, relevance supercedes date by default, but even by Date has less spam than Technorati. It’s different, true, but man, it certainly seems to work […]
Haunted House Nation
Haunted House Nation is growing like crazy now. Woo hoo! =) I plan on doing another one, veggiemap.org for Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants around the country to help people when they’re traveling. But it’ll be a few days before I can get it going all the way. I wanna make some changed to Haunted House Nation first(leave […]
Subversion
Ok, I’ve been checking out Subversion. It’s pretty good so far, not much different than CVS (except the obvious lack of 3rd party tools and statistics collectors) but doesn’t seem to have the problems that CVS always had.
I’m using TortoiseSVN and RapidSVN.
Installation on FreeBSD was a snap:
cd /usr/ports/devel/subversion
make install clean
mkdir /usr/local/svn (This is where […]
Developing Firefox Extensions with GNU/Linux
Check out the article at: ArsTechnica
I prefer cross-platform development, but Firefox could be used to bring added usability and more features to the Unix/Linux platforms.
Family guy almost Post-Poned
Family Guy, Almost, Post Poned
Originally they said they would run an older episode, but they’ve found a newer episode to run. Very cool, not the season premiere, but a new episode is still cool. =)
Of course, ABC, who has balls:
Meanwhile, ABC is staying with its plan to premiere its new drama “Invasion,” in which a […]
