Saturday Update
Over at XUL For Thought he has released an XBL for a very cool datepicker. Big Kudos. Datepickers are very time consuming, yet obvious, to program, and a reusable widget is simply a must.
Looks like there is some info on Ebay’s Plan for Skype.
Scott Berkun made some news by both switching to Firefox and making a few well thought out complaints about the UI. Since he is a UI designer and designed much of IE’s UI, he’s definately worth giving some credit. He’s since posted a followup to his original. Year of the Code Monkey has a reply as well as Asa. Definately worth a read, whether your interested in Firefox or just UI design.
You can watch the implementation of Python into Firefox(Mozilla Trunk) here. Pretty cool stuff.
Downloadable builds of Xulrunner have slipped under my nose. Probably for quite some time. They have a XulRunner Tutorial up, as well as a 10 minute guide to migrating in-browser apps to XulRunner and as always the wiki page on XulRunner. Looks like my evening is planned, after I nap that is. Still not at a stable release, but man, we’re almost there, and XulRunner will help us conquer the world! (Well, not quite). Can’t wait for Python(or perl or php actually) support. I can learn python, just don’t want to since I know so many others, but some things are unavoidable, and the python programmers swear by it. Hell, I’d rather learn ruby personally, I feel it’d be more of a challenge, but hey, guess it’s time to join the python guys and kick it for awhile.
That’s all for Sat updates.
