Civilization IV
I just saw this: Sid Meier’s Civilization IV, very cool.
Check out the IGN Interview.
But wait, check this out:
“*Civilization IV* [Sid Meier’s latest, due out next year] has been designed to fully support the mod community. The game is written using flexible XML data files and the Python scripting language so modders will have no trouble at all creating their own personalized worlds, units, techniques, and historical events. Advanced modders will even be able to
control the AI.”
Python. Damnit.
I’m completely trying to avoid learning Python and now I’ve got to do it.
First with Firefox and XUL and now with Civ IV.
But that’s a good reason to learn it.
Further, Civilization IV has been designed from the ground-up to deliver fantastic multiplayer gaming options, as well as easy modding - allowing you to create new units, game maps, scenarios, and even entire new civilizations!
So multiplayer is default, very cool. Guess they’ve taken a lesson from FreeCiv and made it default. This should attract some more players. On a related note, anyone up for a Civ3 MP game? Or soon enough a Civ4 MP game?
Definately time to pre-order it too. I just ordered a new monitor so I’ve gotta play something on it. Of course, the LC will also help with my eyes. My friends said to go dual with my old CRT but I can’t because my eyes are so bad from staring at the CRT for hours and hours at a time.
